Contribution of a forest rehabilitated with various schemes of agroforestry in storing carbon

Abstract Rehabilitation of degraded forest areas in the Forest Research and Education (FRE) Wanagama 1 was conducted by planting trees crops various agroforestry schemes. This approach is aimed to establish a successful plantation while allowing local people gaining benefits through farming land. At present, FRE has several forests stands with ground cover vegetations. research carried out estimate contribution for storing carbon, estimating aboveground biomass (stand, cover, litter) as well soil organic carbon. Results this study reveal that from above-ground perspective, Swietenia stand stores greatest approximately (229.35 Mg.ha −1 ), followed those Eucalyptus (135.91 Acacia (69.01 Gliricidia (59.35 ).
